My journey from 2020 to 2021

Reflection

The year 2020 was a challenging year for most. However, I feel I have made the most growth considering the circumstances therefore feel this was my best year in a long time in my life. It was my year making steps to get what I actually want from my life, putting my dreams into reality. One step at a time I told myself starting with baby steps. Every step lead me to the next and made things easier. On the odd occasion I may have felt some anxiety due to fear of the unknown but sometimes we have to take steps to move passed our fears to move forwards in life. Each time I took one step it lead me to the next. I said to myself, “I did it and I can do what I need to do to get where I want to be”. The world is full of its own challenges, each family being unique and each person also being unique. I guess it’s important to be led by our dreams and not be led by fear. Fear is a self -created internal bully. I guess it all starts with self- belief and self-love. I believe in myself and I am capable.

I guess 2021 is a different year and it will be interesting to see what challenges it will bring. On the odd occasion I did feel overwhelmed. I remember feeling that way at the very start of 2020 thinking about all the things I wanted to accomplish and then being overwhelmed by the fact I had accomplished most if not all my goals for the year at the end of 2020. I am extremely grateful and thankful to all those who supported me and stand by me today especially to those who believe in me and my potential. I can visualise a future I am creating. Everything we do and the energy we share has a special resonance with the direction we are going in life. I just have to remind myself , that I am capable, I am confident, and that I can do anything I put my mind to and work hard towards.

What have I learnt?

1) Do not wait for tomorrow, start today

2) Take one small step and see where life takes you.

3) If you believe something don’t let anyone tell you otherwise

4) Listen to your inner self

5) Praise yourself and stop the inner critic

6) Talk to yourself lovingly

7) Be grateful for what and whom you have in your life

8) The importance of energising, for example if you know something zaps your energy to avoid that if able to and increase your energising activities to help yourself rejuvenate from within

9) Don’t take things for granted

10) Be thankful for the good and the bad, the ups and the downs, sometimes it can be mind boggling but I guess that is life and it’s about how to carry on in the chaos.

The power of peaceful moments

When I pray or have a peaceful time on my own I see a reflection of myself. It allows me to venture into myself and who I actually am. I quieten my mind and find a state of bliss and peace. It puts a smile on my face. I hold onto that peace. This feeling I get is very similar to when I meditate or when I am on my walks in nature. I feel that I’m connecting and these processes help re-energise myself. I guess it’s about trying to keep the cup full so that when things arise that we have some capacity to deal with certain challenges. I guess if the cup was half full we risk ourselves of burnout. I try to increase my energy in every possible way.

Why do we live in a society that is constantly chasing?

We are taught and primed into this kind of lifestyle from childhood. I guess it depends how we are brought up too. We need to figure what is right. This is individual to each person and is not always right for another. I guess the ultimate aim is to keep hold of calmness while riding in the storms.

What happens when we stop chasing? I guess things fall into place when we create time for things to happen, particularly when we create time for our health and well-being. When things are good this reflects in all aspects of life. Our well-being is ultimately so important to help us thrive in this world. It is also about keeping hold of the inner calm within us.
